The Aggieland Humane Society provides humane care and placement for homeless and abandoned animals, promotes the human-animal bond and promotes responsible pet ownership to enhance the quality of life for the people and animals in our community.
To be a leader among animal welfare organizations in Texas.
In 1981, Brazos Animal Shelter was incorporated as a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The facility opened at 2207 Finfeather Road, Bryan in 1983. Brazos Animal Shelter accepted animals from the City of College Station, City of Bryan, Brazos County and surrounding counties. On July 1, 2011, we opened our doors to the new location at 5359 Leonard Road accepting stray animals from the City of College Station and areas served by the Brazos County Sheriff’s department. The contract with the City of Bryan ended on August 31, 2011. All animals found within the City limits of Bryan are now taken to the Bryan Animal Center on Finfeather Road. In the Fall of 2012, we changed the name to Aggieland Humane Society (AgHS) as a representation of the spirit of our region!
The Aggieland Humane Society is recognized as a tax-exempt charity under the US Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c)(3) and has the following IRS Tax ID number; 74-2150288. Donations, gifts, bequests, and legacies to the Shelter are deductible for income tax purposes.
We are an independent animal welfare organization and are not affiliated with or receive support from any other local, state or national animal welfare organization.
Most of our animals are dogs and cats and can be found on our monthly statistics pages coded by the Asilomar Accords. We post these records here three years at a time. If you would like to see records for any time period not listed here, give us a call and we will provide them.
Each dog and cat is coded using the Asilomar Accords. To read more about the Asilomar Accords, visit www.asilomaraccords.org.
