COMMON LICENSING QUESTIONS

By ordinance, licenses are valid for one year from the date of the rabies vaccination. If a 3 year rabies vaccination was given, the county tag must be renewed each year on the 2nd and 3rd anniversary of the rabies vaccination.

The phone number engraved on every Brazos County tag provides access to the 24-hour tagged pet hotline.

If your pet’s current county tag gets lost,  a replacement tag may be purchased for $1. Replacement tags may be purchased in person at Aggieland Humane Society, or at the vet clinic that issued the original county tag. Please note, the replacement tag fee is only for lost tags, not yearly renewals.

Brazos County Licenses are non-refundable.

Brazos County Licenses are non-transferable. Once registered, the county tag links the pet to their owner. If a pet’s ownership changes, the new owner will need to purchase a county tag of their own.

If an Animal Control Officer finds your pet, and your pet is wearing a current license tag on its collar, Animal Control will try to contact you. If another citizen finds your pet with its licensing tag, they can call the 24-hour number on the tag. A staff member from the Animal Licensing Office will attempt to contact you so you can connect with the finder to get your pet back home.
