Hungry pet

HELP STOCK OUR PET PANTRY SHELVES!

We believe no pet should go hungry – and with YOU by our side, we are one step closer to making that a reality. Our Community Pet Pantry is launching soon, and it’s all about neighbors helping neighbors.

This program is built by our community, for our community, to prevent pet hunger and keep pets where they belong: with their loving families. This new lifesaving initiative will provide pet food and essential supplies to families facing financial hardship, helping them care for the pets they love during tough times.

Before we can open our pantry doors, we need YOUR help stocking our shelves!

You can purchase food and donate it in person, too! Simply check out our printable wish list for our most-needed items and drop off your donations at the Aggieland Humane Welcome Center located at 5359 Leonard Rd in Bryan, TX.

WHY A PET FOOD PANTRY MATTERS

  • Two-thirds of Americans are pet owners, making the need to provide pet food for families facing financial uncertainty both real and immediate.
  • 64% of the U.S. population was living paycheck to paycheck at the start of 2022. Many families are one job loss or medical emergency from being able to afford food for their pets.
  • Here in the Brazos Valley, families are facing tough financial realities. In Bryan, 23.2% of residents live in poverty. In College Station, that number rises to 28.6% – more than double the national poverty rate.
  • Pet food isn’t consistently offered at our area’s only human food pantry. No dedicated pet food assistance program exists in our area – until now.
  • The vast majority of Americans agree that a pet owner’s financial situation should not impact their ability to care for and love their pets
  • Financial hardship is the third leading cause of pet surrender to shelters – this pantry is a proactive step to keep pets out of shelters and in homes, with families who love them.
  • 97% of U.S. pet owners consider their pets part of their family, and they want to care for them, even in tough times.
