Outdoor Community Cats
French's Feline TNR for Outdoor Cats
In 2018, Aggieland Humane Society partnered with local cat advocates Cheryl and Randy French to initiate the French’s Feline TNR program. The program helps to reduce unplanned outdoor litters community-wide. These surgeries are made possible by your generosity. If you would like to contribute to this program, please click here to donate.
WHAT IS TNR?
TNR stands for Trap Neuter Return. TNR works with community members to identify feral cats and educate the community on how to humanely trap and care for these cats.
WHY IS THAT CAR EAR TIPPED?
The ear tip is a nationally accepted signifier that an outdoor cat is already fixed and cared for!
WHO IS TNR FOR?
TNR is for outdoor, feral cats who frequently interact with other cats that may not be spayed or neutered. Cats are territorial and will defend their home from new cats moving in. As long as they are neutered, they will also not be reproducing generations and generations of new cats in the area.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO SPAY A FERAL CAT?
A TNR feral cat spay/neuter only costs $5 for qualifying areas. This fee includes the surgical spay/neuter procedure, a vaccine bundle, and an ear tip. Please note that all feral cats are required to be in a humane trap on the day of their scheduled procedure. Traps are available to rent through the front desk at Aggieland Humane Society. A trap rental is $1/day with a refundable deposit of $75.

WHY TNR?
- Community cats are the most significant source of cat overpopulation. Without spaying and neutering, community cat numbers rapidly increase.
- The only humane method proven to result in a reduction of free-roaming cats is TNR.
- TNR reduces nuisance behavior often associated with feral cats like yowling, fighting, and spraying.
- When you permanently remove an outdoor cat from an area, another cat will move into its place. A spayed/neutered cat will maintain its territory without reproducing year after year.
- When cats go through the TNR program they are also vaccinated against rabies, protecting the health of pets and people in our community.
- TNR improves cats’ lives by relieving cats of the constant stresses of mating and pregnancy.
