Contact the Owner
If the pet is wearing a collar with tags, try this contact information first.
- If the pet has a rabies tag, call the vet clinic listed on the tag. The vet can use the tag number to look up the pet and provide owner information.
- If the pet has a microchip tag, call the microchip company listed on the tag. The microchip company can use the microchip number to look up the pet and provide owner information.
- If the pet isn’t wearing a collar with tags, have the pet scanned for a microchip. Most local vet clinics and animal shelters can scan for a microchip free of charge, and help contact the owner.
